Swimming Pool Construction Process

Discussion & Design Process

The swimming pool or spa installation process begins with a discussion about your vision. We will discuss the gunite pool design - the shape, size, finish and the best location of the swimming pool to accent your property. We will also discuss your concerns for your family’s health, as well as, any environmental concerns you may have and what features to add such as automatic safety covers, chlorine reducing technologies and high efficiency heaters.  Once we understand your vision a formal design will be created and a cost estimate developed.

Layout

The swimming pool/spa/water feature design is laid out on the ground for you to view and approve.

Framing

Upon your approval of the layout the construction process begins. Wood framing is installed to the exact shape and dimensions of the swimming pool/spa/water feature.

Excavation

Excavation equipment is brought in and the swimming pool/spa/water feature is dug out to specification. Afterwards any loose dirt is compacted and ¾” bluestone is placed ensuring structural stability.

Steel/Rebar

Steel reinforcing bars (rebar) are installed. The rebar is placed to strengthen and support the gunite structure insuring that your swimming pool will not crack. The lighting and plumbing are “stubbed out” during this phase.

Gunite

Gunite is pneumatically applied shaping the walls and floor of the swimming pool/spa/water feature.

Plumbing

Rigid schedule 40 PVC is connected to the “stubbed out” plumbing and run through trenches to the filter system. The plumbing system is designed to be as hydraulically efficient as possible to ensure proper flow rates reducing energy consumption. A properly designed system also protects your family by preventing drowning due to both hair and suction entrapment.

Gas and Electric

Gas and electric are now properly sized and installed.

Masonry

After the gunite shell has been properly sealed and a protective membrane installed, coping, tile and other masonry that you have selected are now installed using materials that will ensure your swimming pools longevity.

Plastering

This is the final step in the construction process. The interior finish that you selected is applied by expert certified plasterers. The filling process begins.

Completion

Once full the filter system is started and the water is balanced. It is now time to begin your orientation process where we teach you about your new swimming pool and discuss service options. Any questions you have about operating your beautiful new swimming pool/spa/water feature will be answered.
